Hyperbaric Nurse Clinical Coordinator

Position Title: Hyperbaric Nurse Clinical Coordinator

Position Summary: Performs the duties of a Registered Nurse and monitors care provided by other nurses and technical staff, in the provision of patient care in the clinic setting and within the hyperbaric environment within each scope of practice with a strong emphasis on continuity of patient care and documentation.

Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for ensuring that the initial nursing assessment and subsequent assessments of all patients are completed according to policy.
2. Responsible for ensuring that a nursing care plan is established and ongoing for all patients.
3. Responsible for ensuring accurate documentation either written or electronic and by the use of digital photography of patient’s wounds on a regular basis.
4. Responsible for assuring a multidisciplinary approach to assessment including but not limited to nutritional assessment and diabetes assessment for patients.
5. Should be familiar with laboratory and other studies appropriate to the chronic wound and hyperbaric patient.
6. Responsible for educating the hyperbaric technical staff on wound care and clinical care as needed.
7. Responsible for collaborating with the Medical Director, Program Director and department team to assist in achieving the desired treatment goals.
8. Must be willing to attend the Introduction to Clinical Hyperbaric Medicine Course, or have certification in hyperbaric nursing.
9. Responsible for working with the Program Director to ensure that QA, PI and QM are occurring and being documented.
10. Responsible for attending those hospital meetings and committees that are appropriate to the position and the department.
11. Responsible for the efficient clinical administration of the department.
12. Responsible for marketing through clinical education to outside providers, insurance carriers and hospitals.
13. Other duties as assigned by the company.

Minimum Educational Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current licensure to practice as a registered nurse in the state of California.

Experience: Minimum of one year nursing experience with direct patient care experience in a clinical setting.

Skills: Current BLS. Must possess excellent communication skills, and have the ability to work with physicians and other health team members in a variety of settings. CHRN certification is required within one year of hire.

Supervision Received: Works under the general supervision of the Program Director and Vice-President of Nursing.

Supervision Given: Supervises hyperbaric technicians providing patient care that requires nursing supervision. Supervises nurses who work in the clinic.

Authority to Release Money and/or Securities: None.

Responsibility for Confidentiality: Responsible for the confidentiality of all patient information and protects the privacy of all patients. Is Responsible for ensuring employee and proprietary confidentiality.

Responsibility for Accuracy: Responsible for complete and accurate documentation. Thorough documentation is imperative.

Pressure Factor: Intermittent work pace and varying degrees of stress.

Contact with Others: Has frequent contact with patients, families, physicians and other members of the health care team. Represents the department and organization with a positive image.

Working Conditions: Mostly clinic with occasional chamber exposure. Must be able to withstand confined and uncomfortable spaces for varying periods of time.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to pass an annual dive physical. Must be able to lift from floor level to waist level. Requires standing, walking, pushing, crouching, kneeling, bending, lifting, reaching at arms length and the ability to handle piercing and cutting instruments. Must be able to tolerate pressures to 6ATA.
